Whoosh Care Neutral Bay

About This Project

With a deadline of day one of school term 1 in 2018, Urban Building was responsible for the strip-out, design and construction of a 150m2 boutique after-school care facility in Neutral Bay. The desired outcome was a child friendly space that was more homely than institutional. Residential interior design company Happy Nest Designs were engaged to document and specify the layout and finishes including colouring, flooring, kitchen, storage, freestanding furniture, soft furnishings and artwork.

The project commenced with a strip-out of the existing unusable and pre-loved office suite, with much consideration given to the buildings limited access. With construction underway a mix of commercial partitioning systems were coupled with residential finishes to achieve durable yet welcoming and warm areas including office, kitchen, homework area, studio and backyard balcony. Tight scheduling was maintained through the ‘quiet’ Xmas and New Year period with effective communication used by all involved throughout the project life cycle including client, designer, project manager, carpenters, labourers, vinyl layers, electricians, plumbers, plasterers, painters, glaziers, joinery installers, tilers, cleaners and numerous suppliers.

The finished product met the client’s exact requirements and the results speak for themselves.

“Urban Building brought our vision to life and we are so happy with the attention to detail in the finishes and the completion within the timeframe set. The project was helped along with the team’s ‘can do’ attitude and excellent communication both in the planning and on site.”
