Starting with a 300m2 strip-out in a 600m2 floor-plate office tower, Urban Building was employed to complete a two-stage refurb of an entire floor for an international digital marketing agency. Stage one involved completing the refurb of half the floor while the client occupied the remaining suites, with stage two commencing with another 300m2 strip-out at the practical completion of stage one. With the floor always occupied by the client in some capacity careful planning measures relating to waste removal, loading of materials and noisy works were deployed and paramount to the success of the project.
The set-out of new partitions in the project were configured around a V shape that extended from a central point on the southern perimeter of the building and continued north around the core walls comprising the lifts and amenities, all other items including additional partitions, workstations, loose furniture and demarcation lines between polished concrete and carpet tiles where installed parallel or perpendicular to the lines of the V shape. The project comprised unique design features including raw plywood sheeting with shadowline details and feature lighting to the reception, open plan kitchen and ‘graffitied’ staff lockers, polished concrete floors abutting vibrant carpet tiles and aluminium glazing channel, extensive glass partitioning featuring graphics relating to iconic Australia rock bands coupled with colour coded ceiling & carpet tiles and opaque glass partition panels that double as brainstorming whiteboards. Graphics were also applied to the lift doors and reception glass partitioning representing the locations of the agencies international offices.
The site was revisited in January 2017 with minor remodelling works completed afterhours.
“We thoroughly enjoyed working with Brad and the team from Urban Building and would be happy to recommend them. The team re-fitted our entire floor in an older building in North Sydney to create a modern open plan office suited to our needs. The quality of the work was great and we were particularly impressed with the manner in which the team worked around us while building. They were courteous, professional and always cleaned up after themselves. The team would also frequently start as early as 5:00 am to minimise the disruption during office hours. Thanks guys – we appreciate it!”
