Working within a building that was once an indoor pistol range and is now used as a high-performance gym, Urban Building was responsible for the design, budgeting, programming and construction of gym amenities project stage 1 for the NRL squad of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. The scope for stage 1 included communal showers, toilets and urinal, locker-room and player’s breakout area all to be used in conjunction with the squad’s field and gym sessions. With the building positioned at ground level on a flood plain, special consideration was given to drainage with the result being a raised sub floor coupled with waste pump-out lines to alleviate the potential for flooding. Suitable nonslip and hard wearing materials were selected for high traffic areas and the use of the famous Sea Eagles ‘maroon’ colour was used to brand the new areas. The yet to be commenced stage 2 will include detailed lockers for each of the 30 man NRL squad, coaches/players meeting room including video conferencing facilities and individual offices for the strength and conditioning coaches. The project was completed on-time and on-budget in readiness for the 2017 preseason.
“The Club’s relationship with Urban Building has grown from strength to strength since new management commenced in late 2014. They collaboratively partnered with us as we renovated our coach’s offices and physio rooms in 2015 as well as successfully completing the design and construction of our gym amenities project at our Narrabeen Training Base in 2016. The level of workmanship was second to none and the project completion was executed well inside expectations.
We are extremely proud of how quickly Urban Building understood our requirements and delivered the renovation immediately and under our expectations cost wise. Brad’s strength is in delivering outcomes in challenging circumstances with a minimum of fuss at high workmanship levels whilst understanding the client’s cost parameters. The Club is extremely proud to count Urban Building and specifically Brad Harrison as a key corporate partner and would not hesitate in recommending him to any potential client.”
