Elk & Bean Café Brookvale

Located in the  Northern Beaches most sought-after commercial building, Lifestyle Working Brookvale, and with the previous café occupying two suites and being nonoperational for some time , Urban Building was instructed by the building owners to reconfigure and separate the existing area into new office space plus a redesigned café that would make better use of an outdoor area. With the existing kitchen located in the soon to be new office space, demolition was undertaken to remove all kitchen and servery equipment as well as redirecting and separating all services such as power, gas, air-conditioning, water, waste including grease trap and fire protection into the new café suite through floor slab penetrations assisted by slab scanning. Fire-rated and cavity foam-filled intertenancy walls were reinstated prior to the café fit-out commencing.

The cafe layout consists of an L-shaped counter housing coffee machine and coffee blends, food display fridge, servery and till with food prep area of stainless steel benches concealed behind. Internal bench seating as well as external seating on refurbished timber decking allows clients the option to dine in, even in bad weather with the addition of an automated Vergola. The café is brought to life using timber benchtops, feature tiling to the front of the counter with subway tiles in prep areas, pendant lighting and feature graphics, which soften the harshness of the polished concrete slab.

After a long wait, the tenants of Lifestyle Working Brookvale are happy to be drinking good coffee served from a trendy café…
